Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder to develop the inter-state transmission project “Augmentation of transformation capacity and implementation of line bays at Mandsaur substation for renewable energy interconnection.”

The project will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on 19 September 2025.

The scheme, estimated at Rs 319 crore by the National Committee on Transmission, involves augmentation works at the under-construction Mandsaur pooling substation in Madhya Pradesh. The project has a completion timeline of 18 months.

PFC Consulting Limited acted as the bid process coordinator, with KCC Buildcon Pvt Ltd and Techno Electric & Engineering Company Ltd also qualifying for price bid opening. POWERGRID’s tariff and details of the e-reverse auction are yet to be disclosed.

The Mandsaur substation itself is being developed by Powergrid Mandsaur Transmission Ltd, a TBCB subsidiary of POWERGRID. Completion of the newly awarded scheme is tied to the 765 kV double-circuit Mandsaur-Khandwa transmission line, which is under development by another subsidiary, Powergrid Sirohi Khandwa Transmission Ltd.

The award marks POWERGRID’s fifth TBCB-based interstate transmission project in FY26, up to 19 September.
