The Committee of Directors (CoD) on investment of projects at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has approved two major transmission projects, with a total investment of Rs 3.41 billion. The approval was granted on March 13, 2025.

The first project “Transmission scheme for evacuation of power from Ratle HEP (850 MW) & Kiru HEP (624 MW): Part-B in Jammu & Kashmir” is divided into two parts:

  • Part I: Estimated cost of Rs 1.77 billion.
  • Part II: Estimated cost of Rs 0.41 billion.

PGCIL plans to complete this project by July 2026, under the regulated tariff mechanism (RTM) mode.

The second project is “Augmentation of transformation capacity by 2×500 MVA (9th & 10th), 400/220 kV ICTs at Tumkur (Pavagada) 400/220 kV Pooling Station in Karnataka and Implementation of 1 nos. of 220 kV line bay at Tumkur (Pavagada) 400/220 kV PS for providing Connectivity to RE generation project.”

The estimated cost of this project is Rs 1.23 billion, with scheduled commissioning by May 2026.
