Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for two major hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh. The Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW) will be developed in the Siyom sub-basin, with a combined investment of over Rs 3,700 crore.

These projects aim to strengthen Arunachal Pradesh’s position as a power producer, generate employment for local youth, and provide affordable electricity to support regional development.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Arunachal Pradesh is contributing actively to India’s target of generating 500 GW of electricity from non-conventional sources, including solar, wind, and hydropower, by 2030.

He noted that infrastructure projects in the power sector are part of broader efforts to accelerate development in the Northeast, improve last-mile connectivity, and ensure reliable electricity supply for households, industries, and public services.
