Philippines DOE greenlights 19 energy projects for grid compatibility assessment

The Department of Energy (DOE) in the Philippines has approved 19 projects for grid assessment via the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

These projects will undergo a system impact study to evaluate grid readiness for new energy connections and identify required upgrades. Seventeen of the approved projects focus on renewable energy, with two involving waste-to-energy and battery energy storage systems.

Notable projects include Vortex Offshore Wind Corporation’s 1,000 MW offshore wind in Mindoro, a 478.2 MWp solar project by North Luzon Green and Sustainable Energy Inc. in Pangasinan, and a 425.3 MWp solar development by Tuy Solar Power Corporation in Batangas. The remaining projects encompass wind, solar, and battery energy storage system (BESS) initiatives to bolster grid reliability across the nation.
