PGCIL board approves higher borrowing limits for FY27 and FY28
The Board of Directors of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has approved proposals to increase the company’s borrowing capacity for the current and next financial years, subject to shareholder approval.
According to a regulatory filing, the board approved an enhancement of the borrowing limit for FY 2026-27 from Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 35,000 crore. It also approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 35,000 crore during FY 2027-28.
Borrowing plans
The proposed borrowing limits will be placed before shareholders at the company’s forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
PGCIL stated that funds may be raised through multiple instruments and sources, including domestic bond issuances. These may comprise secured or unsecured, non-convertible, cumulative or non-cumulative, redeemable, taxable or tax-free bonds issued through private placement.
The additional borrowing capacity is expected to support the company’s ongoing investments in transmission infrastructure and associated projects across the country.
