Patel Engineering emerges L1 for Renukaji Dam Package-1

Patel Engineering Limited (PEL) has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) for Package-1 of the Renukaji Dam Project, valued at Rs 910.08 crore including GST, the company announced on February 23, 2026.
The project is located at Village Dadahu in Tehsil Renuka, District Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh, and is scheduled for completion within 30 months. The contract adds to PEL’s portfolio in hydropower and irrigation infrastructure.
The scope of work includes construction of three diversion tunnels with a finished diameter of 9.5 meters each. The tunnels will measure 1,379 meters, 1,468 meters, and 1,590 meters in length. Activities cover excavation, rock support, and concreting for the tunnels.
The project also covers development of three inlet and outlet portals for the diversion tunnels, construction of access roads spanning six kilometers, installation of hydro-mechanical gates, and instrumentation works aimed at supporting operational efficiency and safety.
The Renuka Ji Dam Project is intended to enhance water storage capacity, support reliable water supply, and enable hydropower generation in the region. The award strengthens PEL’s presence in hydropower and tunneling segments where the company has operated for more than seven decades.
Kavita Shirvaikar, Managing Director (MD) of PEL, said the L1 position reflects the company’s capability to execute large infrastructure projects and its role in India’s infrastructure development. She added that the project expands the company’s portfolio and supports its contribution to water management and hydropower development.
