Oyster commissions 52.8 MW wind project in Gujarat for Jindal Stainless

Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd has commissioned 52.8 MW of wind generation capacity at Dayapar in Gujarat for Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), marking its entry into the state and advancing the Gujarat component of a 315.6 MW solar-wind hybrid project being developed for the stainless steel producer. The project achieved commercial operation on July 30, 2026.

The commissioned capacity represents the second phase of the 99 MW wind project in Gujarat, which forms part of the larger 315.6 MW hybrid development comprising 216 MW in Madhya Pradesh and 99 MW in Gujarat.

Project progress

The newly commissioned phase comprises 16 wind turbines with an investment of around Rs 385 crore. This forms part of the overall Rs 725 crore planned for the complete 30-turbine wind facility in Gujarat.

The entire 315.6 MW hybrid project involves an investment of more than Rs 2,000 crore, of which JSL has committed Rs 132 crore.

Oyster said the wind facility has been certified as compliant with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Indian Electricity Grid Code, 2023, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Technical Standards for Connectivity and Communication, and CEA safety regulations, confirming its readiness for commercial operation.

Next phase

The remaining 14 wind turbines will be commissioned in phases, taking the Gujarat wind project to its full 99 MW capacity and strengthening the renewable energy supply supporting JSL’s decarbonisation programme.

Commenting on the milestone, Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director & CEO, Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, said:

“This marks Oyster’s entry into Gujarat, and this second phase of commissioning takes our wind capacity in the state a step closer to full completion. Gujarat’s strong wind resource makes this a valuable addition to the project’s generation mix, and once fully operational, this facility is expected to avoid close to 92,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually. It’s a significant step towards our target of a 3.5 GW pipeline. We remain on track to bring the remaining capacity online as planned.”
