Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) plans to roll out hydrogen-powered three-wheelers in India by the end of this financial year. The company is collaborating with state governments to initiate pilot projects, involving 50 to 100 vehicles, with plans for subsequent expansion.
In partnership with Systemics, OSM has formed Hydrogen Intelligence, a joint venture that developed hydrogen-powered three-wheelers capable of covering 700 km with a two-kg hydrogen cylinder.
These vehicles have undergone successful testing, including at Le Mans, France, where they covered 708 km in 24 hours. The hydrogen fuel cell technology functions like a battery, generating continuous electricity.
OSM will manufacture the vehicles at its Faridabad facility, with additional production capabilities being established near Chennai to support exports. Initial market launches are planned for Karnataka, followed by Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Chairman Uday Narang highlighted hydrogen’s potential, noting that with just five minutes of recharging, two kg of hydrogen costing €30 can power vehicles for over 700 km.
In parallel, OSM is raising Series B funding to support its expansion plans.
