Offgrid Energy Labs, based in Noida, has raised $15 million in a Series A round led by Archean Chemicals Industries Ltd, with existing investor Ankur Capital also participating.

The startup, which develops zinc bromine gel batteries, had earlier secured seed funding from Shell Ventures. The latest funds will support a 10 MWh demonstration plant in the United Kingdom, advance ongoing research and development, and drive commercialisation of its patented ZincGel batteries through certification, testing, and giga-factory planning.

Founded in 2018, Offgrid Energy Labs focuses on alternative stationary energy storage technologies.

“The Series A round is a key step that allows us to move from lab research to large-scale commercialisation through our UK demo facility, and eventually a GW-scale plant in India,” said Rishi Srivastava, Co-Founder of Offgrid Energy Labs, in the statement.

The company has built over 25 intellectual property (IP) families and more than 50 assets across chemistry, materials, and design. It uses widely available, non-toxic materials combined with zinc-based chemistry to develop flexible energy storage solutions through its ZincGel platform.
