NTPC and RRVUNL form JV for 25,000 MW renewable energy projects in Rajasthan

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) have established a joint venture (JV) named “NTPC Rajasthan Green Energy Limited” to develop 25,000 MW renewable energy projects in Rajasthan.
NGEL holds a 74% equity stake in the JV, while RRVUNL holds 26%. The company will develop, operate, and maintain Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks (UMREPP) and renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hybrid systems, with or without energy storage solutions.
The JV also plans to produce up to 1 million tonnes (MT) of green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as green ammonia and green methanol.
This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2024 between NTPC and RRVUNL for renewable energy development in Rajasthan.
