NHPC’s Q1 profit rises 2.9% to Rs 1,096 crore; revenue up 18.5%
NHPC Limited reported a 2.9% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,096 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, driven by higher revenue and improved operating performance. Revenue from operations rose 18.5% to Rs 3,808 crore from Rs 3,214 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
The company’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 30.6% year-on-year to Rs 2,352 crore from Rs 1,802 crore, while EBITDA margin improved by 570 basis points to 61.8% from 56.1%.
On a standalone basis, revenue from operations stood at Rs 3,808.31 crore, compared to Rs 2,815.53 crore in the preceding quarter. Total income increased to Rs 3,959.72 crore from Rs 3,120.52 crore in Q4 FY26. Profit before tax was Rs 1,347.41 crore and profit after tax stood at Rs 1,178.09 crore.
During the quarter, NHPC commissioned the fourth 250 MW unit of the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Project, taking the project’s commissioned capacity to 1,000 MW with four of the eight units now in operation.
Pending approval of the final tariff by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), the company recognised provisional revenue of Rs 574.31 crore from the project during the quarter.
NHPC also recognised provisional revenue of Rs 364.42 crore from the 800 MW Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project, which was commissioned during FY 2025-26 and is awaiting final tariff determination by CERC.
Following restoration work after the October 2023 flash flood, the 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station (3×170 MW) resumed commercial generation in July 2026.
