The National Committee on Transmission (NCT) has recommended two interstate transmission system (ISTS) schemes to the Ministry of Power for final approval. These will be implemented under tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) and the regulated tariff mechanism (RTM).
One scheme involves the transmission system for evacuating power from renewable energy (RE) projects in Rajgarh (1,500 MW) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Neemuch (1,000 MW) SEZ in Madhya Pradesh. Originally separate, these projects have been merged into a single scheme with an estimated cost of Rs 34.72 billion. REC Power Distribution Company Limited (REC PDCL) has been appointed as the bid process coordinator (BPC).
The second scheme is the Paradeep-Andaman-Nicobar high-voltage direct current (HVDC) link, to be implemented under the RTM process, with an estimated cost of Rs 379.81 billion.
Additionally, NCT approved one transmission scheme under TBCB mode—augmentation of transformation capacity and implementation of line bays at the Mandsaur substation for RE interconnection, with an estimated cost of Rs 3.19 billion. PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL) has been appointed as BPC for this project.
