The Union Government has sanctioned Rs 6.67 billion under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to improve Nagaland’s power distribution infrastructure.
Nagaland has one of the highest Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses in India, standing at 45.8% in FY23. Under RDSS, the government is focusing on reducing these losses by upgrading substations, replacing bare conductors with covered conductors, and installing smart prepaid meters.
Launched in July 2021, RDSS is a nationwide initiative to modernize India’s power distribution sector. The scheme aims to cut AT&C losses to 12-15% and eliminate the gap between the Average Cost of Supply and Average Revenue Realized (ACS-ARR).
With this funding, Nagaland’s power sector is expected to see significant improvements, ensuring better electricity supply and financial stability for the state’s utilities.
