Morocco’s Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable has commissioned two 400 kV transmission lines linking the El Ouali substation in the Fez region to the upcoming Midelt solar plant.
The lines, spanning over 270 km, were developed with an investment exceeding MAD 550 million.
These transmission lines will transport power from the solar plant, boosting the share of solar energy in Morocco’s clean energy mix. The country is focused on renewable energy integration by expanding high-voltage transmission lines.
Morocco aims to source 52 per cent of its electricity from renewables by 2030 and add 9 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2027.
