The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has introduced a Rs 2 billion programme, running through FY 2025-26, to accelerate green hydrogen production and application across sectors.
Focus areas include decentralised hydrogen production through floating solar, biomass, and wastewater, with applications in off-grid energy, cooking, heating, and industrial processes. The initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM).
Project implementation will be overseen by Scheme Implementing Agencies (SIAs) such as the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), with project selection based on innovation, scalability, and projected hydrogen output. Eligible Executing Agencies (EAs) include public sector units, NGOs, and R&D institutions. Funding disbursements include 20 per cent upon issuance of Letters of Award, 70 per cent at project milestones, and the remaining 10 per cent upon completion.
