Maharashtra signs MoU for 240 MW Tillari PSP with Warana group

The Government of Maharashtra has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shree Tatyasaheb Kore Warana Sahakari Navashakti Nirman Sanstha Limited (STKWNSL) to develop a 240 MW pumped storage project at Tillari Dam in Sindhudurg district. 

The project will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 10.08 billion. The agreement was signed on July 3, 2025.

The cooperative is focused on hydropower development. Its portfolio includes six small hydroelectric projects in Kolhapur district. These are Chitri, Kumbhi, Kadavi, Tulshi, Jangamhatti, and Patgaon, with a combined capacity of 10.6 MW.

The cooperative is part of the Warana group, known for its rural development model led by Shree Tatyasaheb Kore Warana Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. Originally set up as a sugar factory, the group expanded into a network of cooperatives that improved the livelihoods of farmers across Warananagar and nearby villages.
