Maharashtra awards Rs 825 crore contracts for 35,000 solar water pumps
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has awarded contracts worth a combined Rs 825.73 crore, including GST, for the supply and installation of 35,000 off-grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) under the PM Kusum-B ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana’ in Maharashtra.
The contracts have been awarded to GK Energy Limited, formerly known as GK Energy Private Limited, Shakti Pumps (India) Limited and Oswal Pumps Limited for the deployment of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP solar pumping systems at identified farmer locations across the state.
Contract awards
GK Energy Limited has received a Letter of Empanelment (LoE) from MSEDCL for the supply and installation of 10,000 off-grid SPWPS. The order is valued at Rs 235.92 crore, including GST, and was formalised on July 5, 2026. The company disclosed the award to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations.
Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has received a Letter of Empanelment for the supply and installation of 15,000 off-grid SPWPS. The order is valued at approximately Rs 353.89 crore, including GST, with a base contract value of Rs 324.96 crore.
Oswal Pumps Limited has received an additional order from MSEDCL for the supply and installation of 10,000 off-grid SPWPS. The contract is valued at approximately Rs 235.92 crore, including GST.
Scope and execution
The scope of work for all three companies includes the design, manufacture, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of off-grid solar pumping systems with capacities of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP under the ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana’.
The projects are required to be completed within 60 days from the issuance of the Work Order or Notice to Proceed (NTP).
Oswal Pumps’ contract also includes a five-year warranty, repair and maintenance services, and Remote Monitoring System (RMS) support.
All three companies stated that the contracts have been awarded in the ordinary course of business by a domestic entity. They also confirmed that MSEDCL is not related to their respective promoters, promoter groups or group companies, and that the contracts do not constitute related party transactions.
Commenting on the order, Vivek Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Oswal Pumps, said the repeat award reflects the company’s execution capabilities and strengthens its order book under various solar pumping schemes.
