Luminous Power Technologies officials and guests inaugurate the company’s lithium ion battery assembly line at its Baddi facility in Himachal Pradesh.

Luminous Power Technologies has inaugurated its first lithium-ion battery assembly line in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, expanding its manufacturing footprint into advanced energy storage. The new facility has an installed capacity of 500 MWh and will meet rising demand for battery solutions across residential, commercial and electric mobility applications.

The assembly line uses robotic automation and precision manufacturing systems. It is configured to produce standalone lithium ion battery packs, stationary Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and automotive battery packs for e-rickshaw use. Individual battery packs range from 1.2 kWh to 16 kWh, while system-level configurations can be scaled up to 1 MWh.

Company executives said the facility strengthens localised and technology-led manufacturing. Rajiv Ganju, Senior Vice President Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain at Luminous Power Technologies, said the new line enhances integrated manufacturing and supply chain capabilities and supports future-ready operations aligned with India’s energy transition.

The facility includes end-to-end digital traceability for each battery pack in line with Battery Aadhaar requirements. This enables lifecycle tracking and supports regulatory compliance, safety and transparency across production.

Luminous operates seven manufacturing facilities in India and supplies energy solutions to more than 100 million households, with exports to over 40 countries. The new assembly line strengthens the company’s position as a full stack energy solutions provider as demand for efficient and clean energy storage continues to grow.
