Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a major role in TenneT’s High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) offshore wind program.

TenneT, the Dutch-German transmission system operator, nominated L&T in collaboration with Hitachi Energy to deliver advanced HVDC converter stations that will support renewable energy integration across the North Sea.

The project aims to accelerate the transmission of large-scale renewable power into the European grid, particularly across German and Dutch offshore wind zones. The partnership combines L&T’s engineering and execution capabilities with Hitachi Energy’s expertise in HVDC technology. It also reinforces L&T’s growing presence in the global offshore wind market and its focus on sustainable infrastructure development.

L&T stated that its offshore wind business leverages multidisciplinary capabilities, strategic global partnerships, and three modular fabrication facilities to execute complex offshore projects with high safety and quality standards.

Separately, L&T’s Power Transmission and Distribution business has secured large contracts in Saudi Arabia for developing grid infrastructure. The orders include construction of a 380/33 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) with hybrid switchgear, transformers, reactors, and automation systems, along with 380 kV overhead transmission lines covering more than 420 km. These projects are expected to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s high-voltage transmission network and support regional grid expansion.
