L&T Energy GreenTech Limited (LTEGL) has won Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) tender to develop a 10 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) green hydrogen facility at the Panipat refinery petrochemical complex in Haryana. The plant will be built on a build-own-operate basis.
LTEGL secured the entire capacity at a discovered tariff of Rs 397 per kg. The tender was floated in April 2024, with bids also received from ReNew E Fuels and NTPC Renewable Energy Limited. The project is expected to be commissioned in 30 months.
LTEGL will supply green hydrogen to IOCL under a 25-year offtake agreement. The Panipat complex, currently operating at 15 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA), is being expanded to 25 MMTPA. This plant will contribute nearly half of IOCL’s targeted green hydrogen capacity.
