Author: PPD Team Date: March 13, 2026
KPI Green Energy Limited has energised an additional 35 MWp of solar capacity, raising its operational Independent Power Producer (IPP) capacity to 589 MWp. The company stated that it is progressing toward commissioning another 1,582 MWp, which would increase its total IPP portfolio to 2.17 GWp.
In January 2026, KPI Green commissioned its 200 MW / 240 MWp solar IPP project at Khavda Solar Park (South Block). The project was among the first to become operational within the 1.8 GW solar park developed by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL). It operates under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).
The company has also achieved grid synchronisation and begun power injection for its 92.15 MWp hybrid project ahead of the scheduled Commercial Operation Date (COD) of July 2026. The project comprises 16.95 MW of wind capacity and 75.2 MWp of solar capacity.
Under two long-term PPAs signed with GUVNL in October 2024, KPI Green is developing a combined hybrid portfolio of 620 MW / 917 MWp. As part of this, the company has commissioned 48.4 MW / 69.41 MWp in phases under a 250 MW / 350 MWp solar project. The remaining capacity of this project, along with a separate 370 MW / 642 MWp hybrid project, is targeted for completion by October 2026.
Separately, Sun Drops Energia Limited, a subsidiary of KPI Green Energy, has signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with GUVNL for 445 MW / 890 MWh of standalone battery storage. The agreement marks the company’s entry into utility-scale energy storage.
