KPI Green Energy energises 965 MWp of its 2.17 GWp IPP portfolio

Author: PPD Team Date: March 24, 2026

KPI Green Energy Limited has energised an additional 376 megawatt-peak (MWp) of capacity across two Gujarat projects, taking its total operational Independent Power Producer (IPP) portfolio to 965 MWp, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing to stock exchanges on Monday.

The latest addition comprises approximately 182 MWp of solar capacity under the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) 250 MW/350 MWp project and approximately 164 MWp of solar capacity along with approximately 30 MWp of wind capacity under the GUVNL 370 MW/677 MWp hybrid project. The company’s total IPP portfolio stands at 2.17 gigawatt-peak (GWp), with the remaining capacity under execution and targeted for commissioning in phases.

The update follows KPI Green’s earlier capacity additions. The company had previously energised 589 MWp under its IPP portfolio, which included the commissioning of its 200 MW/240 MWp solar project at Khavda Solar Park (South Block) in January 2026, one of the first projects to go live within the 1.8 GW solar park developed by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL).

Under two long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) signed with GUVNL in October 2024 covering a combined 620 MW/1,027 MWp of solar and hybrid capacity, KPI Green has now energised 181 MW/251 MWp under the 250 MW/350 MWp solar project and 140 MW alternating current (AC)/194 MWp under the 370 MW/677 MWp hybrid project. Both projects are targeted for full completion by October 2026.

The company’s 50 MW/92.15 MWp hybrid project, comprising 16.95 MW of wind and 75.2 MWp of solar capacity, has also achieved grid synchronisation and begun power injection ahead of its scheduled Commercial Operation Date (COD) of July 2026.

In addition, KPI Green has signed a PPA with GUVNL for a 150 MW wind IPP project, for which financial closure has been achieved. Commissioning is expected by October 2027.

Separately, Sun Drops Energia Limited, a KPI Green subsidiary, has executed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with GUVNL for 445 MW/890 megawatt-hour (MWh) of standalone battery energy storage systems, marking the company’s entry into utility-scale energy storage.
