JSW Energy plans to commission its 5-GWh battery assembly plant in Pune, Maharashtra, in the third quarter of 2025. The facility will support Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and help meet domestic content requirements when mandated.
In a related update, Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO, said trial runs for the company’s green hydrogen project at Vijayanagar are nearing completion. The project has a capacity of 3,800 tonnes per annum.
The company currently has 29.4 GWh of locked-in storage capacity and has signed agreements for an additional 25.2 GWh. By 2030, JSW Energy aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of storage capacity.
