The International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen grid interconnections and promote sustainable energy systems.
The partnership aims to expand renewable energy usage, improve cross-border energy connectivity, and support the development of unified grids for large-scale clean power transfer.
Under the agreement, USAID will collaborate with ISA to establish and expand renewable energy transmission networks in regions such as South Asia, the Persian Gulf, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
The partnership will also focus on creating regional clean energy markets, mobilising investments, and developing financial models for trans-regional grid connections and supergrids.
USAID will leverage its technical expertise and innovative financing mechanisms to support ISA’s objectives.
This collaboration aligns with ISA’s flagship programme, One Sun, One World, One Grid (OSOWOG), aimed at promoting cross-border energy trade and ensuring reliable, affordable access to renewable energy.
