Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, inaugurated a 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) manufacturing facility in Bidadi Industrial Area, Bengaluru. The fully automated plant, developed by PACE Digitek, is among the largest in the country.

The plant’s automated cell-to-pack assembly line is designed for precision and high efficiency, with minimal human intervention.

India’s storage requirement is projected to reach 411.4 GWh by 2032, including 236.22 GWh from BESS. The sector is expected to attract Rs 4.79 lakh crore investment by then. The government plans to add 47 GW of BESS capacity over 2022–2032, with a total investment of Rs 3.5 lakh crore. To support this, the government will roll out an additional Rs 5,400 crore as viability gap funding (VGF) for 30 GWh of BESS, in addition to Rs 3,700 crore already allocated for 13.2 GWh under implementation.
