The Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) inaugurated the first Telangana Power Conclave in Hyderabad on January 22, 2026. The event focused on Telangana’s energy roadmap, its push to emerge as India’s pumped storage project (PSP) hub, and the integration of renewable energy with grid modernisation and electric mobility.

The Telangana Power Conclave marked the sixth state level forum launched by IEEMA to strengthen regional industry engagement and highlight local business opportunities. More than 300 participants attended, including policymakers, utilities, regulators, technology providers, and startups.

Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal outlined the state’s long term energy strategy, with emphasis on scaling solar, wind, and energy storage capacities. This includes Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and PSPs. He stated that Telangana aims to position itself as India’s PSP capital. Mittal also projected that the state’s electricity consumption could rise from about 95 TWh at present to nearly 780 TWh by 2047, which would require a five fold increase in installed capacity along with coordinated infrastructure planning.

IEEMA President Vikram Gandotra described Telangana as a strong growth driven state and highlighted its planning approach and investments in clean energy. IEEMA President Elect Siddharth Bhutoria noted that progress in power access and renewable energy targets was supporting both industrial expansion and broader social development.

Discussions at the conclave focused on Telangana’s 2047 roadmap, green energy deployment, data centres, and Transmission and Distribution (T&D) grid resilience. Technical sessions covered capacity building, new technologies, distribution reforms, and utility digitalisation.

Electric mobility was also a key theme, with participants highlighting the need for grid preparedness, smart charging infrastructure, and the use of renewable energy to support Electric Vehicle (EV) charging as electricity demand rises.

The conclave provided a platform for policy and investment dialogue, with presentations on grid automation, energy analytics, and power electronics. The discussions reflected Telangana’s intent to strengthen its position in power sector reforms and clean energy adoption, while developing capabilities in renewable energy and energy innovation.
