Hero Future Energies (HFE) has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for setting up 270 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar power projects.
The project will also include a 135 MW/540 MWh energy storage system (ESS) under Tranche-XVII, marking a significant step in India’s renewable energy efforts.
In December 2024, HFE won the bid for the project by quoting a tariff of Rs 3.52 per kWh. The PPA was signed following SECI’s bid invitation in July 2024, which called for the development of 2,000 MW of solar power projects with a 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh ESS system on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis.
The solar power and energy storage system will be developed with a dedicated transmission network up to the interconnection point. The project is expected to be commissioned within 24 months from the signing of the PPA, further boosting India’s clean energy capacity.
