The Government of Gujarat is set to invest Rs 290 billion in the Gujarat Green Energy Corridor III (GEC-III) project. The initiative aims to transmit 16,500 MW of renewable energy across the state by strengthening grid connectivity from major renewable energy zones.

The project will link renewable energy zones (REZ) in Kutch, Jamnagar-Bet Dwarka, Banaskantha-Patan, and parts of central Gujarat. The transmission infrastructure includes 3,430 circuit km (ckm) of lines connected through six 765 kV substations and an additional 860 ckm via four 400 kV substations.

To maintain stable power quality, the corridor will also include deployment of four Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOMs).
