Group Surya, parent of Surya International Enterprise Limited, has commissioned a fully automated G12R solar module manufacturing line at its Bhubaneswar facility in Odisha. The company stated that the line is the first in the state capable of producing G12R-format modules.
The new line has an installed annual capacity of 500 MW and operates at a cycle time of 20 to 25 seconds per module. Group Surya plans to scale capacity to 1 GW within four to five months, supported by orders from domestic and export markets.
The facility manufactures modules in the 450 W to 735 W range for utility-scale, commercial and residential applications. The production line supports Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon), Heterojunction Technology (HJT), bifacial, half-cut and dual-glass configurations, enabling the company to cater to varied technical requirements.
The line integrates artificial intelligence (AI)-based inspection systems across manufacturing stages. The company targets a defect rate of fewer than five modules per 10,000 units and stated that the AI systems are expected to lower defects by 97 to 98% compared with conventional inspection methods.
Group Director Kamlesh Kumar Singh said the commissioning marks a milestone in building globally competitive manufacturing capability and is intended to enhance operational efficiency and long-term value creation.
The G12R line will operate under Iyro, Group Surya’s solar photovoltaic (PV) brand serving domestic and international markets. The commissioning forms part of a broader expansion plan that includes green hydrogen, green ammonia, green fuels, public-private partnership (PPP) projects and a proposed initial public offering (IPO).
