Goa government rules out nuclear power plans, focuses on renewables

Goa Power Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar has told the legislative assembly that the state government has no plans to set up a nuclear power facility.
“There is no proposal to establish a nuclear power plant. Hence, consultations with stakeholders or environmental assessments are not applicable,” Dhavalikar stated.
Dhavalikar added that the state has instead received multiple proposals for clean and renewable energy projects. These include a 100 MW decentralised wind project under RESCO mode by JVS Comatso Industries Pvt. Ltd., a 300 MW solar project with battery storage by NTPC Green Energy Ltd., and a 197 MW floating solar project across four dams proposed by SJVN Green Energy Ltd.
