Gentari has commissioned a 150 MWp open access solar power project at Dahegaon village in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra. The plant is connected to the state transmission utility and ranks among the largest open access solar installations serving commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers in the state.

The project is expected to generate approximately 248 million units of electricity each year. With this addition, Gentari’s cumulative C&I solar capacity in Maharashtra now exceeds 225 MWp.

Separately, the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has extended the deadline for open access consumers to meet their renewable purchase obligation (RPO) shortfalls for 2014–2020. The revised deadline is now the end of the 2025–26 financial year.

The extension follows a review of compliance data submitted by the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency and 90 open access consumers, which showed significant non-compliance. MERC has allowed this final window for meeting shortfalls via renewable energy procurement or the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs). Entities with surplus procurement up to 2019–2020 may carry it forward. Specific rulings were issued for companies such as Amba River Coke Limited, JSW Steel Limited, Pudumjee Paper Products Limited, and Viraj Profiles Private Limited.
