GEE Limited receives NPCIL approval to supply nuclear power sector
GEE Limited has received approval from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), enabling the company to supply welding consumables and engineering solutions for nuclear power applications in India. The approval brings the company into the country’s regulated nuclear supply chain after meeting NPCIL’s technical, quality and safety requirements.
The qualification allows GEE to participate in nuclear power projects, where supplier approvals are subject to stringent standards and limited to qualified vendors.
Market opportunity
The approval comes as India pursues a significant expansion of its nuclear generation capacity. The Government of India has set a target of increasing installed nuclear power capacity from the current 8.8 GW to 22.5 GW by 2031 and further to 100 GW by 2047.
According to the company, participation in nuclear projects provides access to high-value industrial contracts that typically involve large capital investments, milestone-based payments and long execution timelines. It also expects the approval to reduce exposure to low-cost competition because of the specialised qualification requirements for nuclear sector suppliers.
Management comment
Commenting on the development, Mr. Umesh Agrawal, Joint Managing Director of GEE Limited, said: “Receiving NPCIL approval marks an important milestone in GEE’s growth journey.
