The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is partnering with the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to establish a 450-500 MW solar park along the Bundelkhand Expressway.Â
This pilot project aims to create a green energy corridor across the expressway, with approximately 450 MW of solar power installed on the expressway’s designated land area, spanning 15-20 meters on both sides.
The project aims to boost energy supply, support electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and provide clean energy to neighboring villages. With a total land area of 1,700 hectares available for the solar park, the initiative is estimated to cost around Rs 18 billion. It is expected to generate electricity at a competitive rate over a 25-year project term, starting from the commercial operation date.
UPEIDA had initially issued a tender in October 2022, inviting bids to develop the solar park on a build-own-operate (BOO) model. The final date for bid submissions is November 15, 2024.
