Fortis Energy has obtained preliminary permits for three wind projects in Serbia, totalling 509.4 MW. These projects will generate 1.5 billion kWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power 750,000 households and prevent 350,000 tons of carbon emissions each year.

EMS (Elektromreža Srbija) has confirmed grid connections for Fortis’ 171 MW Vranje and 194.4 MW Gornjak wind parks, while the 144 MW Juhor wind park is still undergoing the preliminary licensing process. Wind measurements and resource assessments are currently in progress.

The €550 million investment will support a comprehensive value chain, including civil works, electrical engineering, logistics, maintenance, security, and telecommunications.

In July 2024, Fortis Energy expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of a 180 MW solar project in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia, which includes a 36 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Set to begin construction in 2025, this will be one of the largest solar power and energy storage systems in southeastern Europe.

Earlier in April 2024, Fortis Energy entered a strategic partnership with Hopewind, combining Fortis’ project management and operational expertise with Hopewind’s advanced products.
