Feston SEV plans 3 GWh BESS capacity, enters storage segment

Feston SEV Private Limited, the solar inverter and power electronics arm of FestGroup, has entered the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) segment, expanding its portfolio to include solar generation, storage, and power electronics.

The company has outlined a target annual production capacity of 3 GWh for its BESS operations. Its product range will cover systems from 5 kWh for residential applications to 5 MWh containerised units for commercial and industrial (C&I) use.

As part of its manufacturing plans, Feston SEV has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Light Mechanics Private Limited for the design, supply, and commissioning of a prismatic battery pack assembly line. The arrangement is intended to strengthen in-house integration capabilities in battery systems.

Sampath Kumar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fest Group, said the focus is shifting from generation to energy management across time. He noted that storage is becoming central to improving reliability and aligning consumption with demand across C&I and residential segments.

The move reflects broader changes in India’s solar market, where time-of-day tariffs and the intermittent nature of solar generation are driving demand for storage-backed solutions. Inverters are also evolving from conversion devices to systems that manage energy flows across solar, storage, and grid interfaces.
