IPP Enlight Renewable Energy has secured financing for the 1.2 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) component of its Atrisco solar and storage project in New Mexico, USA. The project, located near Albuquerque, includes a 364 MW solar facility and a 1.2 GWh BESS, with a total construction cost of USD 827 million—USD 458 million for the BESS and USD 369 million for the solar component.

The 1,700-acre project is expected to reach full commercial operation later this year. Developed by RES, with Tesla providing the BESS, the project has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Public Service Company of New Mexico.
