EAC recommends ToR for Indirasagar-Omkareshwar Pumped Storage Projects

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has recommended the grant of Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Indirasagar-Omkareshwar on-stream Pumped Storage Project (640 MW) by NHDC Limited in Madhya Pradesh.Â
Located in Khandwa district, the project will require 198 hectares of forest land and an estimated investment of Rs. 47.56 billion. NHDC plans to develop the project on the right bank of the existing Indira Sagar Power Station.
Additionally, the EAC has recommended amendments to the ToR for the Musakhand Closed Loop Pumped Storage Project (600 MW) by ACME Urja Two Private Limited in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh.Â
Changes include increased land area (344.609 hectares) and higher water storage (17.15 MCM) for initial reservoir filling. The project’s estimated cost has also risen to Rs. 35.41 billion.Â
