The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to jointly develop 300 MW of solar-based renewable energy projects. The projects will be set up across DRDO facilities nationwide.
The collaboration aims to make all DRDO campuses in strategic locations net zero by 2027. SECI operates under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, while DRDO functions under the Ministry of Defence.
DRDO’s Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR) has already developed solar thermal technology to provide efficient and sustainable heating in cold regions such as Ladakh.
