ACME Solar signs PPA with NHPC for 680 MW renewable energy
ACME Solar Holdings Private Limited has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with NHPC Limited to develop a 680 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) power project.
In February 2024, ACME Solar secured the 680 MW capacity by quoting a tariff of Rs 4.64 per kWh during NHPC’s FDRE auction.
Earlier, in September 2023, NHPC invited Request for Selection (RfS) bids to select renewable power developers (RPDs) for supplying 1,500 MW of FDRE power from Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects with energy storage systems (ESS) across India through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB).
The 680 MW ISTS-connected RE power project with ESS will be developed on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis in multiple states, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Rajasthan. The project is expected to be commissioned within 24 months of signing the PPA.
Sunsure Energy signs PPA with SECI for solar project in Rajasthan
Sunsure Energy Private Limited has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop a 300 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
In March 2024, Sunsure Energy secured the 300 MW capacity by quoting a tariff of Rs 2.56 per kWh in SECI’s Tranche-XIII solar auction.
Earlier, in December 2023, SECI invited Request for Selection (RfS) bids for 1,500 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar power projects under Tranche-XIII.
The 300 MW project, including a dedicated transmission network up to the interconnection point, will be developed on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis. It is expected to be completed by December 2026 at an estimated cost of Rs 18 billion.
TP Solar wins Rs 4.55 billion solar module supply contract from MSPGCL
TP Solar Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has secured a Rs 4.55 billion contract from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MSPGCL). The contract involves supplying solar modules for 300 MWp decentralised solar power projects under the “Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0” in Maharashtra.
In March 2024, MSPGCL invited bids to supply solar modules for 750 MWp grid-connected solar PV power projects under the MSKVY 2.0 scheme.
The projects align with the Government of Maharashtra’s vision to provide stable daytime electricity for agriculture consumers. As part of this initiative, the state aims to solarize at least 30 percent of agricultural feeders by developing 7,000 MW decentralised solar power projects by 2025.

RVUNL awards 500 MW/1,000 MWh BESS projects to multiple developers
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) has announced the results of its auction for 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Solarworld Energy Solutions, Oriana Power, Rays Power Experts, and JSW Neo Energy have secured capacities of 125 MW/250 MWh, 50 MW/100 MWh, 75 MW/150 MWh, and 250 MW/500 MWh, respectively. Tariffs range between Rs 221,000 and Rs 224,000 per MW per month.
The tender, issued in September 2024, includes a greenshoe option for an additional 500 MW/1,000 MWh capacity. Developers are eligible for viability gap funding (VGF) of Rs 2.7 million per MWh or 30 percent of the project’s capital cost, disbursed in five tranches. The VGF for the greenshoe option will be finalised in the next phase.
The projects, which are expected to be commissioned within 18 months of signing the battery energy storage purchase agreement, will connect to RVUNL facilities, including the Giral Lignite Power Project (Barmer), the Suratgarh Thermal Power Station (Suratgarh), and substations in Sakatputa, Kota, and Heerapura, Jaipur.
