Coal India Limited (CIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) on May 5, 2025, to set up 500 MW of solar power projects in Uttar Pradesh.
The MoU also provides for future collaboration between CIL and UPRVUNL for additional clean energy opportunities in the state.
CIL is targeting 3,000 MW of solar capacity by FY 2025–26. This target is planned to grow to 5,000 MW by FY 2029–30 across various locations in India.
This agreement follows CIL’s recent MoU with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to jointly develop a 2×800 MW ultra supercritical coal-fired power plant at Chandrapura in Jharkhand.
