Coal India Limited (CIL) and EDF India Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Électricité de France SA (EDF), signed a Non-Binding Shareholders Agreement (SHA) Term Sheet on February 23, 2025, to form a joint venture.
The partnership will focus on developing pumped storage projects (PSP) and other renewable energy projects in India and neighbouring countries.
Earlier, EDF also signed a non-binding term sheet with NTPC Limited to collaborate on PSPs and hydro projects integrated with renewable energy. The partnership will further explore opportunities in the power distribution sector.
