China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) said the Hualong One has become the world’s most deployed third-generation nuclear reactor, with 41 units operating or under construction.
Each unit generates over 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 8.16 million tonnes. Seven units are already grid-connected.
The design, developed in China, meets international safety standards, holds European Utility Requirements certification, and has cleared the UK Generic Design Assessment.
China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said more than 20 countries and regions have expressed interest. Pakistan hosts the first overseas projects, with Karachi-2 and Karachi-3 together producing over 48 billion kilowatt-hours and avoiding 39.16 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
