CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited has secured its largest-ever single order — a Rs 641-crore contract from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). The order is for 765kV Transformer Package 7TR-12-Bulk.

It covers the supply of 765/400kV single-phase transformers under a corporate procurement package. PGCIL had invited bids for this in December 2024. Other bidders included Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and GE Vernova T&D India Limited.

Earlier this year, CG Power’s board approved an investment of Rs 7.12 billion for a new greenfield power transformer plant. The facility will be commissioned by March 2028. It will have an annual manufacturing capacity of 45,000 MVA, raising CG’s total capacity to 85,000 MVA.

Capacity expansions

The Malanpur unit in Madhya Pradesh is increasing capacity from 25,000 MVA (2023) to 35,000 MVA. An additional expansion to 40,000 MVA was approved in October 2024. In Bhopal, the distribution transformer plant is ramping up capacity from 6,900 MVA to 9,900 MVA over the next few months. This unit mainly serves industrial customers.

Order book highlights

CG Power’s order pipeline has grown sharply. In Q3 FY25, the Power Systems segment saw a 100% year-on-year rise in orders to Rs 17.59 billion. The unexecuted order book stood at Rs 59.84 billion as of December 31, 2024.
