CG Power & Industrial Solutions Ltd (CG) will invest Rs 7.12 billion to build a greenfield power transformer plant, approved by its board on January 28, 2025.
The facility, slated for commissioning by March 2028, will produce 45,000 MVA annually, boosting CG’s total power transformer capacity to 85,000 MVA.
The new plant will manufacture 220kV–765kV transformers for domestic and international markets. Land acquisition is underway.
Expansion Timeline:
- Malanpur Unit (MP): Capacity increased from 25,000 MVA (2023) to 35,000 MVA by March 2025, with further expansion to 40,000 MVA approved in October 2024.
- Bhopal Plant (MP): Distribution transformer capacity will rise from 6,900 MVA to 9,900 MVA within 2–3 months, focusing on industrial clients.
Order Book Growth (Q3 FY25):
- Power Systems: Orders surged 100% YoY to Rs 17.59 billion, with an unexecuted order book of Rs 59.84 billion as of December 31, 2024.
- Industrial Systems: Orders grew 37% YoY, with a 50% rise in outstanding orders.
- Total Order Book: Rs 97.06 billion (including subsidiaries), up 70% YoY.
CG operates through two segments: Power Systems (transformers, switchgear) and Industrial Systems (motors, generators). This expansion aligns with rising demand in energy infrastructure and industrial sectors.
