CG Power to expand power transformer capacity to 40,000 MVA

The board of CG Power & Industrial Solutions Ltd has approved the expansion of its power transformer manufacturing capacity from 35,000 MVA to 40,000 MVA with an estimated investment of Rs 270 million.
This decision, made on October 21, 2024, follows previous expansions, including an ongoing upgrade from 25,000 MVA to 35,000 MVA at its “T3” unit in Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh, expected to be completed by March 2025.
In FY24, CG invested Rs 310 million for the current capacity expansion, while in FY23, it increased capacity from 17,000 MVA to 25,000 MVA with a Rs 1.26 billion investment. This also included an expansion in distribution transformer capacity at the Bhopal unit from 6,900 MVA to 9,900 MVA.
In Q2 FY25, CG reported a 43% year-on-year growth in overall order intake, reaching Rs 31.96 billion, and its outstanding order book stood at Rs 78.31 billion as of September 30, 2024. The Industrial Systems division saw a 56% increase in order intake, while the Power Systems division grew by 31%.
CG operates through two main segments: Industrial Systems (motors and generators) and Power Systems (transformers, reactors, and switchgear).
