In recent orders, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has granted transmission licences to three projects:
Khavda Phase-IV Renewable Energy Project:
CERC has granted a transmission license to POWERGRID Khavda IV-E2 Power Transmission Limited, a subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL).
The project, part of Gujarat’s Khavda Phase-IV (7 GW), will operate under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) method. It includes the augmentation of transformation capacity at the Khavda Power Station (KPS2) with 765/400 kV ICTs and new bays for renewable energy interconnection.
The project is scheduled for commissioning within 21 months.
PGCIL secured the project with quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 932.07 million.
Bhadla-III Power Transmission Project:
Bhadla-III Power Transmission Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PGCIL, has been granted a license to establish additional transmission systems for evacuating power from Rajasthan’s Bhadla-III Power Station under REZ Phase-III (20 GW).
The project involves multiple augmentations, including 400/220 kV and 765/400 kV ICTs, scheduled for completion within 18-30 months.
PGCIL won the bid with quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 661.52 million.
Sirohi Transmission Project:
Sirohi Transmission Limited, a subsidiary of PGCIL, received a license for developing inter-state transmission systems under Rajasthan REZ Phase-IV (5.5 GW).
The project includes a 765/400 kV substation near Sirohi and associated transmission lines for Jaisalmer/Barmer.
PGCIL secured the project with quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 2,908.53 million.
