The Union Government inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several power projects in eastern Uttar Pradesh on April 11, 2025. These efforts aim to strengthen electricity transmission and distribution in the Varanasi division.
Projects inaugurated include two 400 kV and one 220 kV transmission substations and associated lines across Jaunpur, Chandauli, and Ghazipur districts. These projects are valued at Rs 10.45 billion.
In addition, foundation stones were laid for upcoming infrastructure worth Rs 7.75 billion. These include a 220 kV transmission substation at Chaukaghat in Varanasi, a 132 kV substation in Ghazipur, and upgrades to the electricity distribution system in Varanasi city.
The government stated that these projects are expected to improve electricity reliability and support growing power demand in the region.
