Canadian Solar’s e-STORAGE division has signed contracts with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to deliver 2GWh of battery energy storage for two major projects in Scotland: Coalburn 2 and Devilla.
e-STORAGE will provide 450 SolBank 3.0 battery containers for the Coalburn 2 project in South Lanarkshire and the Devilla project in Fife. Both projects are set to begin construction in 2027, each with a two-hour energy storage dispatch capability.
The combined 2GWh capacity will power approximately 250,000 UK homes for a day and help stabilize the grid, reducing 4.57Mt of CO₂ emissions over their lifetime.
CIP partner Nischal Agarwal highlighted the role of these projects in supporting the UK’s clean power and net zero goals by 2030 and 2050, respectively. The projects will also include environmental initiatives such as tree planting and habitat creation.
e-STORAGE President Colin Parkin emphasized the significance of the projects in enhancing grid stability and unlocking the potential of offshore wind energy.

The US Department of State stated that the decision aims to prevent any financial relief…
Author: PPD Team Date: December 9, 2024 The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has simplified rooftop solar installation rules for consumers with sanctioned loads of up to 10 kW. The new guidelines allow a 10 per cent capacity tolerance for direct current (DC) systems, ensuring that the alternating current (AC) capacity of the inverter does not exceed the sanctioned load. Consumers with lower sanctioned loads can now install systems up to 10 kW, with automatic…
Author: PPD Team Date: July 9, 2025 The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has launched two new Centres of Excellence (CoEs) focused on green hydrogen and electric vehicle (EV) technologies. Both centres operate entirely on renewable energy generated onsite, combining solar, wind, and battery storage to ensure uninterrupted power. The green hydrogen centre features a microgrid with solar panels and wind turbines that directly power electrolysers. This setup allows for zero-emissions hydrogen production and…
Author: PPD Team Date: April 21, 2025 EDF Renewables, a subsidiary of the French Électricité de France (EDF) Group, has commissioned the 400/132 kV Koruson main transmission substation (MTS) near Noupoort in South Africa’s Northern Cape. This is the first major transmission substation in the country to be developed entirely by an independent power producer (IPP). The MTS connects 1.5 GW of renewable energy to the national grid and forms part of the Koruson 1…
