BNC Power wins NTPC switchyard package for Gadarwara Stage II

BNC Power Projects Limited has received three contracts from NTPC for the switchyard package of the 2×800 MW Gadarwara super thermal power project, stage II in Madhya Pradesh. The combined value is about Rs 4.06 billion.
The first order is valued at Rs 1.09 billion and covers ex works supply of equipment, materials, and mandatory spares. The second order is priced at Rs 743 million and includes inland transport, transit insurance, installation, testing, and commissioning. The third order is worth Rs 2.66 billion and relates to civil, structural, and architectural works.
Gadarwara STPP stage II comprises Units 3 and 4, each rated at 800 MW. The project is located at Chor Barhata in Narsinghpur district. The project uses ultra-supercritical coal technology. Power purchase agreements are in place with Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Goa. SLC LT granted coal linkage of 6.8 MTPA on 3 January 2024. Startup power will be drawn from the existing Gadarwara Stage I 765 kV switchyard.
The original and latest estimated project cost stands at Rs 204.46 billion. Financial closure was achieved on 5 November 2024. As per CEA’s latest report, expenditure up to 31 October 2025 is Rs 10.71 billion, including Rs 1.67 billion spent in October.
Unit-wise construction milestones show early-stage progress with boiler foundation work for Unit 3 expected to be completed in July 2026 and for Unit 4 in January 2027. Major erection activities, including boiler lifts, turbine generator work, and piping, are scheduled through 2027 and 2028. Trial runs and commercial operation dates align with the planned commissioning schedule.
Boiler and turbine civil works show between 1 per cent and 3 per cent progress. Gadarwara stage II remains on schedule with Unit 3 expected to commission in September 2029 and Unit 4 in March 2030.
