BHEL secures largest-ever GTG supply order from Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured an order from Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise, Nigeria, for the supply and supervision of erection and commissioning of eight Gas Turbine Generator (GTG) packages.
Secured amid intense international competition, the contract is BHEL’s largest-ever single order on a supply and supervision basis for GTG packages in terms of both quantity and value. The equipment will be manufactured at BHEL’s facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise is part of the Dangote Group, one of Africa’s largest and most diversified business conglomerates. The group has interests across oil refining, petrochemicals, fertilizers, cement, sugar, packaging and other sectors.
The latest contract expands BHEL’s presence in Nigeria, where the company has previously executed an order for the supply and supervision of a 26 MW GTG package to the Government of Cross River State.
Africa presence
BHEL has built its presence across Africa through the execution of power sector projects in Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Rwanda, Senegal and Sudan, in addition to supplying products and equipment to several other African countries.
The company has more than four decades of experience in manufacturing and supplying Gas Turbines for customers in India and overseas. It has supplied nearly 250 Gas Turbines to date, with overseas customers accounting for more than 20% of these supplies.
